My advice is to spend some quality time online and just look. I use orbitz.com sometimes, but I also just check the airline pages.

Are you looking for a one-way or round trip? When do you want to leave? All this stuff makes a difference in cost. Fly during the week, not on weekends.

Hawaiian airlines has flights out of San Jose to Hilo (with stopover at honolulu) on tuesday and wednesday next week for $307. After tax that is $324. For a trans-pacific flight plus an interisland that is probably about as good as you can get.

I used to always book my interisland flight seperately since there were often sweet deals, but not really anymore.
Unfortunately with the airlines closing, the cheapest interisland flight in the near future is $69 through either Go! or Hawaiian, so you may as well book it together. The flight from San Jose to Honolulu by itself is $229.
